Acceptance of Terms
By installing, launching, or using Joanium, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Joanium regarding your use of the app.
02
Software License
In short:
- You can use, study, modify, and share the code for personal projects, research, testing, hobby work, and other noncommercial purposes, free of charge.
- Charities, schools, public research bodies, and government institutions can use it for any purpose, regardless of how they are funded.
- Commercial use is not covered by this license — that includes selling Joanium, bundling it into a paid product, or offering it as part of a paid service. Commercial use requires a separate license from the developer.
- If you redistribute the code, or a modified version of it, you must pass along a copy of the license (or the URL above) and the required notice below.
Required Notice: Copyright © 2026 Joel Jolly (https://www.joanium.com)
This is a plain-language summary. The full license text is what actually governs, and it takes precedence over anything here.
03
Permitted Use
Joanium is a personal AI interface that lets you connect to third-party AI providers using your own API keys. Use of the app itself is governed by the Software License above — free for noncommercial use, with commercial use requiring separate permission.
- You must comply with the terms of service of any AI provider whose API you connect.
- You must not use the app to generate, distribute, or store illegal content.
- You must not decompile, reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute the app except as permitted by the Software License above — including using it, or any fork of it, for a commercial purpose without our permission.
- You must not use the app to harass, defame, or harm any individual or group.
04
API Keys and Third-Party Services
Your keys never leave your device.
Joanium stores API keys locally on your machine. No key is transmitted to Joanium servers because there are no Joanium servers in the loop.
You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your API keys. Joanium accepts no liability for unauthorized use of keys that you store in the app.
Costs incurred through your API keys — including token charges billed by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or others — are entirely your responsibility.
05
Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Joanium is provided as is without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantee of uptime, accuracy of AI responses, or fitness for a particular purpose.
- AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Human judgment still matters.
- We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
- Our maximum liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you have paid for the app, which if free is zero dollars.
06
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms occasionally. Changes will be reflected in the last updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
For significant changes, we will display an in-app notice.
Privacy
Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Joanium has no backend.
There is no Joanium account, no Joanium server, and no telemetry platform collecting your usage in the background.
We built Joanium because we believe conversations with AI should be private by default — not monetized, not analyzed, and not stored somewhere you do not control.
Your data
What We Collect and What We Do Not
- Conversations: Stored only in local storage on your device. Never sent to us.
- API keys: Stored only on your device. Never transmitted externally by the app.
- Your name: Used for personalized greetings and stored locally.
- Usage analytics: None. No analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry.
- Cookies: None. The app does not set cookies.
When you send a message, it goes directly from your device to the AI provider you selected. Joanium is not an intermediary holding your prompts on its own servers.
Each provider has its own privacy policy governing how prompts are handled, so we strongly encourage you to review those policies as well.
